Best Tips To Get Rid Of Acne

By Heather Miller

If you are not well educated on the subject, acne can be a long and tough battle to fight against. Follow the steps below to improve the look and health of your skin.

Don't pick at your skin if you have acne. Popping or picking at pimples can lead to spreading the bacteria around that causes acne. Further, picking at the same area repeatedly may cause the skin to break open, which may cause scarring once it is healed.

Limiting the meats and dairy you eat can reduce acne. This may reduce acne outbreaks, because the hormones found in meat and dairy products can negatively affect the skin.

Consider temporarily avoiding products that are made to whiten teeth. If you have acne around your mouth, perhaps you are reacting to food or to something you use to clean your teeth. Acne can be caused by certain oral products, such as mouthwashes or whitening toothpastes. Your skin around the mouth is more sensitive than other skin.

If you wear makeup, try to limit the amount that you use, or even stop wearing it until your acne clears up. Popular thinking says acne should be covered with foundation to make it look better; however, this will only make things worse by clogging the pores. If you stay away from makeup it will clear up your pores.

To rid yourself of acne, try to spend more time outdoors under the sun. Sunlight helps dry out the oils in your skin. In the beginning, you may find your acne getting worse, because your body's oils will penetrate to your skin's surface. Later, the skin will get drier. Within a week or two, your drier skin may not show as much acne.

Changing your bed linens more frequently can have a surprising positive effect on your acne troubles. Oils and dirt from your face will get onto your pillow cases and your sheets. Then the next time you lay down, that old oil and dirt will transfer onto your skin and clog your pores. In order to prevent this problem, be sure to wash your linens on a regular basis.

Use products containing salicylic acid to treat acne. Salicylic acid, along with other acids in the beta hydroxyl family, helps the skin by accelerating the rate at which dead skin cells are shed.

If you have stress as well as acne, it is likely the two are related. Be certain you have time to relax. Lowering your stress levels will help keep your hormones and body systems in balance, which should help reduce acne. Smoking and caffeine should be avoided to improve your skin.

A great way to reduce your acne is to control the amount of stress in your life. Prolonged stress will cause the production of hormones, which cause both health and skin problems. Reducing stress has so many benefits it is well worth the effort, be it by exercise, meditation or simply taking a few minutes a day to be alone with your favorite music. You can help acne problems by eliminating stress.

When you suffer from multiple blemishes, you may want to consider using all-natural skin care products to clean your skin. Skin care products that contain chemicals can irritate skin. Your face needs a certain amount of oil to remain healthy. Many chemical laden products strip all the oils off of your skin. Your skin will then over produce oil in order to compensate. The excess oil can then clog pores and cause further acne outbreaks.

Age is not a factor in determining who has acne. The best way to ensure clear, acne-free skin is to develop a cleansing routine that works well for your unique skin type.
