Awesome Advice For Clearing Up Your Acne!

By Steve Ian

Many people have trouble with acne, generally as a result of clogged pores in the skin. Contrary to popular opinion, these people are not all in their teens; many of them are older. Whatever your age, here are some helpful tips to reduce your acne problem or eliminate it altogether.

You should always look for sunscreen that is labeled "non comedgenic." Many sunscreens have lots of oil included in their ingredients and those oils can clog your pores and make your acne worse. "Non comedgenic" sunscreens are far less likely to make your acne worse, as they are proven not to block pores.

Use a daily multi-vitamin to help control your acne. Good nutrition and proper vitamin and mineral levels help lead to clean and clear skin and if you are not receiving these, you could be dealing with severe acne. Taking vitamins also helps your body fend off bacteria, another contributor to acne.

A great tip to clearing up acne can be by using the steam room at your gym. The steam room works because it opens up your pores which allows dirt to exit through sweating. Just ten to fifteen minutes of being in the steam room each day can have a significant impact on clearing up acne.

Acne has no definitive cure because it is a hormonal and genetic condition affecting a great portion of the world. Meanwhile, acne doesn't have a cure; a good way to prevent it from taking over your life is by establishing a daily skin regimen. Washing your face everyday and moisturizing can keep acne at bay.

Give your face an acne-fighting steam treatment by adding herbs and/or essential oils to very hot water and either putting a towel over your head and allowing the steam to rise around your face, or soaking the towel in the hot water and wrapping it over your face for 15 minutes or so. This will open the pores and help treat your acne. Rinse with warm water followed by cool water.

If you have a bump on your face, take two extra strength aspirin. Aspirin has great soothing properties, as it can reduce the irritation that is causing your blemish. Also, you can create an aspirin mask, by diluting aspirin in water and applying the paste to the surface of your skin.

An important tip to consider when concerning acne is the fact that simple household items such as potatoes can be useful for clearing your skin. This is important because it is a cheap and effective way to clear pimples. Cut a potato and hold the exposed piece against a pimple for 10-15 minutes. You may find that your pimple clears up sooner with the addition of nutrients from potato juice.

Applying hydrocortisone or products that contain it will reduce the redness and swelling associated with acne flare-ups. Care must be exercised, though, because hydrocortisone is a fairly harsh treatment that can irritate and damage skin. This damage makes skin vulnerable to the spread of acne. Hydrocortisone should be used sparingly on isolated trouble spots.

A great tip for reducing or preventing acne is to make sure that your diet contains healthy amounts of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. There are a vast number of vegetables and other foods that have properties that fight acne. Consider mixing these types of food by blending them into a tasty smoothie.

Avoid acne by eating a healthy diet daily. Get rid of things like sugar and processed food that contain ingredients that slow down internal processes or cause massive sebum production. Also, avoid junk food and oily and greasy food since these can actually come through your skins pores. Eat better for better skin.

To avoid acne breakouts that stem from sweat, don't wait to shower after a workout. That means hitting the showers when you work out at the gym or heading straight home after jogging, cycling or playing sports. If you let the sweat sink into your pores, then by the time you clean it later the damage will already have been done.

As you can see, problems with acne are not totally incurable. If you follow the tips that were discussed in the article, your acne problem will be aided, if not cured. But please see your physician or a dermatologist before doing anything very extreme, as they may have useful warnings or cautions.
