It is important to drink lots of water to help prevent acne. It is recommended to drink, at least, eight full glasses of water each day. Without sufficient water, the body starts to get dehydrated. Dehydration causes your skin not to be able to shed dead skin cells properly due to being starved for water. Acne problems intensify when this occurs.

Use only one cream at a time to treat acne. Some people get overzealous about their acne treatment efforts and use every lotion and cream they can find. Don't do this, because it might end up doing more harm than good.

You may want wash your face more often if you suffer from frequent breakouts. To reduce the number of breakouts and their intensity, wash your face immediately upon rising in the morning, then wash it again just prior to going to bed in the evening.

Change your bed sheets often. It can help prevent worsening acne issues. These oils may get on bed linens while you are sleeping. Then, they can make their way back onto your face. Launder your linens frequently to prevent this feedback loop.

Wear comfortable clothes made of natural materials. Especially hot, cold or humid conditions can cause outbreaks in some people. Certain synthetic fibers can also worsen acne as a result of trapped heat. Physical stress from excessive heat can worsen acne, but wearing the right clothes will help.

Making a face mask with one part lime juice and one part ground nut oil is a great acne remedy. Mix these together thoroughly and put it onto the affected area of skin to prevent acne and to heal it.
